It has 7 boxes, 11 trays and appears to be in good condition for its age - which I assume to be the first half of the c19th, though I'm no expert.
The problem however, is that the feet, possibly bronze or wood, have been removed (!!!!) at some point in time. I am hesitant to buy "incomplete" items, although I find the box very attractive. It measures 38cm x 30cm and weighs c. 2.7kg.
I know it`'s a VERY difficult question, but would any experts out there hazard a guess as to approximately how much (percentage wise) this MIGHT impact upon the value of such a box, compared to an identical box with feet (eg minus 25%, minus 50%, etc.) ?
If I purchased the box, but couldn't come to terms with it's obvious flaw, I could always sell in on, I suppose. However, I don't wish to be out of pocket, if I can at all help it.
The sale price will be probably somewhere between €250 and €400, subject to further negotiation.
What do you guys think ??
