antique clock any idea of its brand

here i have attached an image of an antique clock. any idea of its brand?

 

I think it might be what's called a bracket clock, but I don't know how to date it.
The experts will be along soon, hopefully!

 

Would think it should have some branding inside.

 

There is probably a maker's mark on the movement. Without more and better lit and focussed images about all I can say is that it it is late 19th or early 20th C and either German or American.

 

is it a valuable one? one of my friends said me that he saw it on a garage sale and took a pic. He was asking my whether to buy it

 

Depends what you call valuable and where you are and what the clock market is like there. It was fairly cheap when new and it is not anything special as clocks of the period go..

 

Well most of the antique items in Sri Lanka are targeted for foreigners. mostly Chinese, they take these stuff and then sell them back in Europe and other auctioning houses. this happens mostly with ebony furniture, where Sri Lanka is very much popular. therefore if there is a market for this clock in UK, or USA. it surely adds value in the Sri Lankan market

 

guys i got to know its brand name. its called ansonia

It is American, the dial centre looks as if it might have an alarm function, and US clock person would call it a shelf clock. If you search for Ansonia shelf clocks (strike and alarm) you may find similar. It is not the sort of clock that would sell for much in Britain, the clock market is way down, the style is unfashionable and the condition of the dial looks very yellowed with age.

At auction here in Britain I'd expect it to make only £30-£40.

I don't......but it's boring...I have a 70's barometer with that same top finial treatment....

 

Different shape, much the same general comments as the last one, not very desirable. May even be a more modern reproduction, I am not familar with the monogram on the dial, looks like H to me but my eyes are poor.

 

I need a clear closeup of the dial just under need the number 12. Can see a brand starting with RA?
