Antique Copper World Map

Hey all. Discovered that in my house I have an antique copper world map that belonged to my grandad. It's around 40 years old according to my dad and he said it's real copper, live the look of it so I put it in my living room.

Just wondering if it's pretty rare or common since I haven't seen anything like this.

And, by way, 40-years old is not considered "antique." Better described as "vintage."

My apologies Debora. It's the first time I've delved into this sort of thing. Thank you very much for the information and speedy reply.

 

Looks like it was acid etched and lacks the detail a good hand engraved piece shows.

Seller dates to 1940-1970 but I would think a 1960-1970 decorative object. The kind of thing that would hang in an office or den.

Mass produced and very popular in the 70s so your 40 years old is probably right on the money. There are later ones that are laser etched on foil. They appear shinier than this one does.
