A2018631-5B18-40D2-91F2-AC8C4BC0799E.jpeg Hi - I would like to know if there is any value in this cabinet. I am having a relative’s apartment cleared out - I am not in that physical location and at the moment I have only one photo of it and the dimensions. The cabinet is in terrible shape - one glass door is broken. It was left in an unoccupied apartment for 20 years. It’s probably more than 70 years old.

    The approximate dimensions are:

    44”h x 33” w x 10” d

I just want to know what it is and if it has any value before I have it discarded.

    Thanks!

Looks like 1940's, most likely a stained poplar ... doesn't look like walnut or mahogany from photo. Value is minimal IMO, but folks do like cabinets to keep items in. As is, I'd say $30 - $75 value.

With the 2nd glass panel broken I am not sure it's worth anything much :(

As others said, wood stained to mimic mahogany. Could be poplar but, just as likely, birch. Think a bit older than the 40s. Teens-20s? Some value but, as-is, certainly less than $100.00 most areas. My Midwest neck-of-the-woods, $35.00-50.00. Maybe more in or near a big city.

The books on the bottom right might be worth more than the case!

OMG, I didn’t even NOTICE the books on the bottom right! I have a helper working with me by Zoom in the apartment where it is now and I will find out today what those books are!

This is what the books are. They are twelve volumes of the work of the great Yiddish writer Sholom Aleichem in Yiddish (which I don’t read) with a single copyright date of 1919. What a surprise!
