ANTIQUE INKWELL??

    Hi all!!     Hi Lisa,
    Is it copper or just "copperised". I would really would like to soak the ink off the well and polish the copper case. I think it is 19th century. It is a real beauty!!!!!!!

    Thank you it is precious, I haven't tried to clean it up as I'm worried I might damage it.Also I quite like it that that very ink had been used In it's time and still there like it was only yesterday!!:) Quirky i know. Do you recommend a cleaner?

    Hi,
    I would start with the glass well. Soak it in ammonia and soap for a while. It should clear up pretty quick. Sometimes if it was India ink it could take longer.

    My gut feeling is WWI era... I did a quick search and found this one which stated that it was indeed a Navy WWI inkwell.... Great little find! Leslie
