Antique Lantern Identification Help

Hello, I am hoping to find out some details about this lantern. It is brass and has a red glass lense. Any information about this would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

My first thought was a miner's safety lantern. However, I'm not finding any with a red lens. Maybe Railroad safety lantern.

This is quite rare/ it is a japanese military candle powered lantern as used in the caves that we so often times used in the pacific by the Japanese/ it is only the second onje I have seen/ john kruesel

and on ebay.........looky at what the seller wants 4 it.....
