Antique Miniature Minton Teapot

Discussion in 'Pottery, Glass, and Porcelain' started by Barbara Edwards, Jun 16, 2025.

  1. I have this small 3" tall Minton teapot but despite numerous internet searches I've been unable to find another example.
    Can anyone help?
    Many thanks.

    Hi Barbara,

I found a few examples in the pattern. If yours is significantly smaller, perhaps it's a child's set?

From the diamond mark I believe the pattern was registered April 10, 1878 so made then or sometime after. (I see: Parcel 4, H=April, D=1878, 10=day)

Unfortunately the link is old and doesn't actually link to the sale.

Interesting that England is marked on the miniature teapot. Usually that means produced in 1891 or later. However, that is an older Mintons mark, so 1878 kite mark info seems right. Also interesting is that the cup shape and deep-welled saucer hearken back to an earlier 19th c style. All-in-all it's very interesting and miniature/child's/toy items (gosh I dunno what size denotes what type!) are generally quite collectible.

Perhaps it's a personal teapot from a breakfast set, rather than a child's teapot? Just a thought.
