Hello Everyone! (Newbie here...) I love restoring "roached out" Antique lamps. I've just completed this Brass Oil lamp (which sad to say was converted to electric...) But I can not find a site to figure out this particular maker. The ONLY marking is an "L" stamped in the base. This is a SOLID Brass lamp. Everything on it is HEAVY solid brass.

OK Experts... I'm sure this is an easy one for you... Who made this??? Thanks in advance.

    Dave... the "Newbie"...

What material does the ring seem to be made of?

I'm with INH: are we looking for lamps that are brass & marble or other stone, or, as looks possible from here, brass & ivory?

The ring is either a Marble or Alabaster... not sure which.

It's not Ivory Bronwen. But the rest IS Brass. A VERY heavy and solid brass. The lamp weighs 7 lbs!

If we locate something similar, we may find the stone (incorrectly) termed onyx, as these elements were:

    Never seen that maker's mark.

Kind of odd that, what used to be the burner, is not marked. Was there evidence that it ever had kerosene in it and had been burned?

I can't tell from the angle, but is the flat gallery wide enough to accept a tripod shade holder? Many of these types of lamps would have had a decorative glass shade around the chimney.

As Komo said look for marks, maybe the burner has something to identify the country.

Was this an English lamp with a Duplex burner before the conversion?

I think you will find that the base and font holder are brass plated cast iron. There were several dozen makers of lamps similar to yours. Unless they are marked, it's difficult to assign a maker. The "L" is likely a mold ID.

    JMHO.
try to limit the search by finding the brand that is on the wheel of the burner.
best site till now is Pempel's. the wheels are under DSR, the makers are under Hersteller.
