Any insight on this rocker I picked up? Seat seems leather.

If you turn the chair over and there are holes around the Hole, then it was a caned seat. Otherwise it had an embossed leather seat.

The pressed cardboard would be a replacement.

Time period early 1900s American Oak. Pressback Rocker

Thanks much!! Although I have to say I think the current seat is leather, it just doesn't feel like cardboard....no holes on bottom around the big hole, so not caned seat....any idea of value? It's a bit rough...

Value will depend on how and where you intend to sell it.
Rocking chairs seem to have fallen out of favor. Young mothers don't seem to be interested in them.

My part of the world, (Northern CA), I would have a hard time selling it in that condition. Might get lucky with $25.

It could possibly have had a pressed cane seat.....no holes on the bottom, but a groove around the circle on the top to press in a finished piece of cane.

OK, my bad, but it may not have started out life as a rocker.
