I inherited this desk from my grandmother. She bought it in Western Kentucky in the 1960s. It used to have "wheel" on the bottom but I can find no manufacturer markings or ID anywhere. Measures approx 50"H x 42"W x 30"D. Any help would be great. IMG_2870.jpg

Does look to be an old one (c. 1900) but there are a lot of reproductions out there. Pics of drawer construction, back, and hardware are in order to tell for sure. .

Sure. I can upload more pictures. What kind of hardware do you mean? I'll get the drawers and back now IMG_2879.jpg IMG_2878.jpg IMG_2879.jpg IMG_2878.jpg IMG_2877.jpg IMG_2876.jpg IMG_2875.jpg IMG_2874.jpg

WOW, the back is as nice as the front. I would be tempted to place it somewhere the back could be seen also :)

1910 to 1920 hardware has a bit of a Deco look ! Transition piece possibly ! Very nice but not a lot of resale value ! No one seems to want them any more with portable lap tops !

Thanks for the pics. It is an old one and I am board with an early 20th century date.

Thanks all. I was gonna sell it. I'm moving and don't have room in the new place. Hate to part w. it but planned to list for $500. Is that light? Or in the range?

Awww, that's too bad.........it would have served you well.

    $500 US.....in the middle of a pandemic....& economic downturn.....
sure.....if you live near a major center....where folks have old homes with lots of room & are willing to send their staff to come pick it up in their F-350....

Otherwise...cut that in half....be prepared to come down.......or deliver.....and hope for the best !!

I would stay with that price ! You can always come down if needed but,, you can`t go up ! It appears to be in great condition !

Very nice original antique roll top - for home or secretary. I would speculate that the maker was either Standard of Herkimer, N.Y. or Gunn of Grand Rapids, Mi. I would call this desk a keeper. Rod
