    Hi everyone,

This magnifying glass has been in my family for a long time, and it has always been assumed to be silver. However, I haven’t found any visible hallmarks.
I tested it with a very strong magnet, and I can’t say for sure that I detected any magnetism. If there is any, it’s either nonexistent or so faint that it’s practically the same as not being there. (I say this as a meticulous engineer!)

It weighs over 200 grams and measures 17.3 cm in length.

I’d really appreciate any insights on:

    Its potential value.

The best places to sell it, whether online or in physical stores.

I’m attaching some photos for reference. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks so much in advance!

    ;)

I guess the value will depend a lot on it being silver or not, and/or age, and/or maker.
Google Lens wasn't helpful with this one. But maybe one of the other peeps here will be able to give you more useful info.

Non-magnetic doesn't mean it's silver; it just means it's made of non-magnetic metal. It doesn't look like silver to me.

I'm thinking there is a stamp at the handle top under the Round ring..

    Ahemm.
we don't know what it's made of
we don't know where you are
we don't know where it came from

it's really hard to place a value other than possible metal weight.....

Yeah I can see that too. Can we have a close up please?

Charlie's link doesn't fill me with confidence of it being silver though.

Try sniffing it, too. If it smells metallic, unlikely to be silver.

It doesn't look like silver to me too, but then it can be difficult to say for sure from a photo. It is a nice design, whatever the metal.
And silver has a very distinct silver smell.

i always use the breath test for silver out in the field, a silver/gold dealer in town always does it whether its hallmarked or not

the condensation goes very rapidly if solid silver

probably not 100% fool proof though

Silver does indeed have a very distinct smell. Not always with low grade.
