The site is having difficulty uploading close up photos of the wood. This is an antique table with a very attractive handle and key lock. The ends of the drawers are joined. As soon as the site lets me post a close up I will do so.

I am curious as to the age, origin, worth, and type of wood.

The above is a photo of the underside of the drawer.

This is a close up of the front of the drawer. The photo is upside down. The key and front are on the right, and the open side top of the drawer is on the bottom of the photo.

    This is the underside.

The four feet start out as square/4-sided at the top, but shortly after that they are cut/tapered to be triangular/3-sided.

This is a closeup of the the back. There are the same little pieces of wood holding the back edge for support, as is seen on the underside.

I apologize for the number of postings, but this website kept crashing on me as I attempted to post photos, and I would lose everything i took.

The style makes me think 1830s give or take, but the brasses look victorian. Can you tell if they are replacements? Can we get a pic of the back of the drawer front?

    Hi,
I am in agreement with Johnny I think the brasses are replacements. The handle would not be over lapping the bottom of the drawer. The top of the brasses are too tall. They are too fancy for that style table. It was done a long time ago though.

image.jpg This is inside. The top edge of the drawer is at the bottom of the photo.

The marks inside are just scrapes, not makers marks.

The top photo is another one of the inside of the lock. The keyhole on the outside is directly in e center, and is evenly surrounded by the drawer pull. Because the locking mechanism is off-set, the screws for the handles on the inside are asymmetrical.

The bottom photo is a closeup of the back corner of the drawer, showing the joinery.

Is this a English. What is the wood?

    Thank you, all.

I do think English and 19th century. Agree that the pull is probably not original, albeit an old pull.

Thank you. Is it made of oak? What would you call the style?

Can't see the wood well enough to tell. The drawer interior pieces do appear to be oak but the rest may not be the same wood. A shot of the top in good light would help. The style is typical of English Georgian period and would be considered a simple work table. I can not tell whether it is period but it is possible. Here is a similar multi-drawer Georgian work table for comparison. The wood in this table is mahogany.

The pull is not as old as the table. It's a tad Victorian and too ornate, in my opinion.
