It is odd, isn't it. I'm trying to follow your photos. The top one is of the top of the can or container or whatever. The next one down is of its bottom? So whatever the can held has to get past the bottom of the top, so to speak, and then down through the drainage holes?

Sorry, still investigating. It looks as if the bottom of the top [can't think what else to call it] could be removed?

I'm intrigued by this can. I had another thought. Maybe it is a press of some kind.
The stuff to be pressed goes in under the 'bottom of the top' and then the 'top' goes on it and maybe weights go on that to force juice or some such through the holes?
Not a sexy store-bought job I fancy but maybe home made, judging by the holes.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

How can the top and the bottom be identified if you don't know what it is?
