    Hey all,

Every once in a while I come across an article online that I feel is interesting for one reason or another and instead of posting them individually I thought I'd get a catch all thread going. Feel free to add links any articles that you find are interesting and that others here might enjoy.

As a group we're not terribly fond of opening links to sites we may not already frequent................:wideyed:

I'd rather see articles posted here that I could read here.....but that's just me !:grumpy:

Yeah a lot of former Gannett (Now USA Today) newspapers want you to subscribe but as long as you don't go over their free article limits they don't force you to subscribe.

I don't want to get the forum in trouble if I copy and pasted the article here. It may be "fair use" for educational purpose but I'm not a lawyer and don't want Peter to get nasty emails from newspaper publishers.

    From the Bangor Daily News

How buying patterns, fewer collectors are affecting Maine businesses
    http://bangordailynews.com/2016/07/...er-collectors-are-affecting-maine-businesses/

    According to the article:

Items like depression glass, Longaberger baskets, cookie jar, salt cellars, and other glassware are dead stock.

Items like Indian artifacts, cast-iron cookware, antique toys, fishing and sporting equipment are selling well.

    Interesting quote from the article:
“We’re seeing younger collectors,” Oakes said. “They’re just collecting the stuff we grew up with. The chrome dining room sets, the funky lights, the Pyrex, the CorningWare, the Fiestaware.

“Twenty-four years ago, we wouldn’t have had a Pyrex bowl here,” he said. “I tend to like formal furniture. When I started in this business in the 1980s, that stuff was extremely popular. People wanted the beautiful sideboards.”

I've the same issue. Can't imagine those who post links just willy nilly open them.
And also with continuously having to ask for enlarged photos. :p
You'll notice I've stopped asking which means.......

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I get the print version of Antique Week newspaper through the mail, and they periodically run a column about antiques in the news. Next time I see the column I'll look for online versions of the articles to post here. Antique Week does have an online version but it's only for subscribers.
