Picked up these vintage lawn chairs? Picked up because of the ornamentation on the backrests, Very very sturdy made out of aluminum, painting is after the fact. Measures 28"W x 32"D. Unmarked as far as I cam see but coulkd be something under the paint. Any help will be greatly appreciated. The Cs go up and over at their junctions. Thx. 20260323_150019_resized.jpg 20260323_150019_resized.jpg 20260323_150036_resized.jpg 20260323_150019_resized.jpg 20260323_150036_resized.jpg 20260323_145941_resized.jpg 20260323_145947_resized.jpg

And you think they may be associated with CHANEL because of the backrest design which appears to consist of overlapping Cs? Unlike other French luxury brands, CHANEL was never widely licensed and its first and only license agreement was signed in 1999 for eyewear. The brand has never produced furniture. Also, the CHANEL logo is sans-serif and has been since it was introduced in 1925.

I don't see the Chanel logo in those chairs at all.
I see backrests inspired by 18th century furniture, like Chippendale and the like.

Not a Chanel expert btw, but I have seen the Chanel logo so often that I could draw it in my sleep.;)

As a source of inspiration... A side chair with "ribband-back" based on a design by Thomas Chippendale. From the collection of The Met. c. 1755-60.

The chairs don't look a bit like Chanel, not even fake Chanel.

No, they don't to those familiar with the brand. But it's widely known that interlocking Cs are an integral part of CHANEL's brand identity; no reason for the OP not to explore the possibility.

"OP" is short for "Original Poster". :)

As for what inspired the typeface itself, it’s possible that the stained glass windows of the famed Aubazine Abbey (the convent that Chanel lived in for her formative years) may have had something to do with it. The CHANEL logo’s simplified curves and sans serif lettering feels apropos of the curviform of the glass strips seen in each window. No matter its origin, one thing’s for certain: The double C, rendered in its simple, impactful font, was loyal to Chanel’s past and intrinsic to her future as an artist. It was modern, yet classic; contemporary, yet timeless. In other words, it was destined to make a statement.
The logo design usually dictates the last detail to look for. Authentic Chanel logos are made with symmetry and precision. The recognizable interlocking "CC" design has the right "C" overlapping the left "C" at the top and the left "C" overlapping the right "C" at the bottom. Counterfeits may exhibit logo misalignment or disproportionate logos that compromise authenticity. Once these pointers are followed, one can significantly assist in discerning a genuine Chanel from a fake. From Chanel website.
