This little guy piqued my interest at the local auction so did some googling and found this similar one that sold in April.

Same style but different armaments. The construction of these is insanely difficult. There are at least 30 separate carved bone pieces either pinned or glued together with the pinning hiding under the coloured dots. The eboo-er didn’t have a clue where they came from or when and neither do I. Does anybody have any clues as to where and when??

Any reference indicating China (seen it before etc) or just a feeling???

Fair question. There are tons of similar on internet, all from China. They started out made from ivory, then bone, and now resin.

I know nothing about these, but I don't see anything to suggest it's resin.

I wasn't suggesting this one was resin. I was just pointing out that it appears the latest ones coming out of China are.
