Looks very 1920's. Cast in spelter. Obviously re wired & socket may have been replaced - it looks much like what is seen in the 1930's - 50's with that push switch. With that mark on the base, should be able to track down the maker.

Am I the only one who thinks shade is "wrong" ? Or is it our of proportion if indeed socket was replaced with a one that makes base too tall and shade too short --for lack of better description

All those Ws make me think of Weiner Werkstatte, but that's not correct. I also think the base and shade are a marriage

I've ID'd a couple of obscure lamp makers by googling '1920's lamp advertisement' images. Most often name and logo is on the ad.

Would think the lamp base to be Japanese for export with that mark and textured base. Hard to say who made it exactly. I also think the shade is a marriage. I think at least a couple American makers used similar shades.

I've not heard of textured bases being possible Japanese origin ? Wouldn't the number be in Japanese script and be marked 'JAPAN' as all items had to be by law when imported to the U.S. 10-3d-japanese-number-characters-MF5G60.jpg
