Possibly something to do with the order of the garter but not sure in what context, maybe used in a place setting at the table, just don’t know, any help would be appreciated. I am based in the U.K.

That's avsolutely the order of the Garter. Woman looks like Queen Anne, no clue who the bloke is.

If that is Queen Anne then could the chap be someone being inducted into the order and this cup & saucer could be commemorative if that ceremony, just a thought, if anyone else has any thoughts

I think the bloke is George IV.

It could well be, it’s a mystery. He’s on one side of the cup she’s on the other side along with the order of the garter emblem, he’s inside the cup and she features on the saucer, so they are both equally prominent on the piece.

The woman might be Queen Caroline:

Hopefully if someone can identify the makers mark it might help with identifying who the people are

If it's George IV and Caroline, they hated each other. I wonder if the fact that he's inside has meaning.

I think it might be William IV and his wife Queen Adelaide. I think the cup and saucer date to about that time.
