Nothing on the back? What is the medium? Is it an original or a multiple? In what region of the world did you find it?

Stencil, or silhouette, or stencil silhouette? Even five years later and it might be tagged "psychedelic".

To me the bird looks like across between a bird of prey and a duck (fat and short) maybe something like female muscovy duck..

It looks like a linocut or woodcut. Very well done, that is a lot of intricate cutting. Might be signed under the mat.

Your close-up photograph of the date is out of focus. Are you sure the last digit is a 1? I ask because it doesn't seem to match the first 1.

No , artist rendition of "just" a bird. No way a grouse with the small seed pecking beak - it's a bit hooked which would also be a meat eater. If you notice - long flowing tail feathers - May be a rendition of a peacock

Agreed. Weird looking bird. Not one in the bird book. Also for a meat eating peacock it all depends on were those tail feathers end.. haha

What a lovely gift and what a lovely find! A drawing then. (Hard to believe as so intricate but that's what the artist did.)
