Hello, wondered if anyone has any idea what this is for? It is like a piece of cutlery - a fork handle with a disc of metal firmly attached to the end. It is 5.25" long and is marked 'Laxey Silver' which I believe is silver plate. It also bears the three-legged symbol for the Isle of Man. I just can't think what it was used for so hope someone can help?

Is there any kind of emblem on the bottom? Thinking a brand iron - Otherwise a home made walking cane for very short people!!;)

    Maybe a root vegetable masher?

Thanks for the ideas - no marking on the bottom, and I don't think it's big or strong enough to be a root vegetable masher. So I think the most likely answer is a muddler - unless anyone's get any better ideas. Thanks terry5732 !

    lloyd249 it's not hoarding if it's valuable

it looks to me to be upside down and the rusted part was exposed to oxygen ,hence the rust , maybe a honey or jam jar dip stick
