Has anyone seen anything like this? Any idea where it's from and/or age?
    Thanks!

A cutlery box? A bit like Sorrento ware, but probably made somewhere else.

    Very nice.
    Looks Italian.

Wonder if it was a receipt drawer. Each person with their own slot.

Is it just wood in the drawers? No fabric lining?

It looks Italian to me too, post-WWII but beyond that... dunno.

All wood in drawers & out

What do I call it if I want to list it?

    "All-purpose organizing box"?
Would've guessed it to be a jewelry box, first, then maybe a box for buttons and sewing paraphernalia. Seem too prettified to have been meant as a cash box, and too small, with dividers too flimsy, to have been meant for cutlery...
Just shots in the dark there...

    Am I seeing plywood?

Wondering if this might not be a homemade project made from parts of another piece.

The knobs don't seem particularly decorative for the box.

Pretty floral marquetry inlaid wooden box. Mention Continental Europe.

I feel this is on the right track, meant for a set of something. (Something of value & want to have at hand.) Is it deep enough for flatware?

It would need to be sturdy, true, but I can't tell from photos how strong it is nor what it is big enough to accommodate. Measurements would be helpful.

Compartments/compartmentalized and dividers/divided are good words for describing the drawers.

It's a "put stuff in me" box. :)

Hi JM. My first thought was a cutlery draw too. You could carry it from the cupboard/sideboard to the table to lay the places. It would also look nice on top of the sideboard. Glovebox from the 40's? But I think the spaces are too narrow. The use of plywood makes me think recent and perhaps a workshop project. Other than that, all the other suggestions above. Good luck.
