    I think more likely a library piece to store and view maps, drawings, etc. This could be for some kind of public institution but just as likely for a private library or in a private firm such as architectural or engineering. Would not really be practical for drafting. They usually have tilt-tops and are more utilitarian. Looks to be oak circa 1900.

    If I had the space, that would make a HECK of a papercradting/scrapbooking table! No clue where it came from, but if you put it up for sale it would go.
