Any info on this vintage (or antique?) spur and other piece

    These were at the thrift together. Just the one spur. Any info on it? Also what would the other metal piece be for? Thanks.

    Yep. Loose ring single jointed snaffle. Looks to be a very old one, hand wrought with those turned over ends.

    The spur looks like it has a silver overlay"damascene".
