I hesitate to call this a doll, on first glance it looks like a native american figure, , the tin headband and hiar/chest ornaments are throwing me off, as to me they look more like Mexican ornamentation, stuffed with ? straw ,ant help appreciated IMG_8219.JPG IMG_8220.JPG IMG_8221.JPG IMG_8222.JPG IMG_8219.JPG IMG_8220.JPG IMG_8221.JPG IMG_8222.JPG

Skookum dolls are a registered trademark, brand name doll. They were manufactured by the H.H. Tammen Company of Denver, Los Angeles, and New York.

Skookums never had arms, and always had wooden legs. They also were always looking to the left or the right, never straight ahead, and were dressed like Native Americans, wrapped in a cotton trade blanket.

So this isn't a Skookum, but does appear to be some other company's souvenir doll. Whose, though, I have no idea.

Somewhere on this forum is a very through discussion between myself and Taupou about Skookum dolls - Taupou very kindly explained the ins and outs of them to this addled brain......the problem is it was a hijacked thread and for the life of me I can not remember what/who the original thread was about............or even when it took place......... :(:(

thank you all ,I have a small collection of Skookum dolls, and knew that this one didnt look like them However I did google them and discovered that 2 of my little mailer dolls are indeed Skookums, back into cabinet with this one, Again thank you, Now on to baskets and pots, Luckily most of my pots are signed, Baskets another story entirely, Am discovering most of my beadwork is African, oh well, I still like it.
