    Sorry, need more/better photos.
    Is it on legs??
A straight front shot, shots of ALL hardware, the bottom, etc.

That said, your trunk appears to have true significant age from a time when fakes were unlikely, but I'm not an expert.
How unfortunate that the condition is so horrible.

I'm looking forward to seeing what others have to say. :)

(You've reminded me how much I covet an antique LV piece... *sigh*)

I would have never guessed this to be Louis Vuitton. Most information for the trunks are on the locks, a date and where it was made. You can send the info to LVMH Moët Hennessy. They may have date and city codes up on the net by now.

Yes, it's unfortunate. I will put some more pictures up later. It isn't on legs (just sitting on a bench). Thanks for your response.

Isn't that interesting? The Oxford Street branch opened in 1885 so that's your earliest date.

Thanks. I'm new to this site. I think I have it corrected now.

Most new people need some help from time to time. I did. Actually, you had a good start but as you can see members like really good photos with lots about the details so they can do the best job possible in helping you.

Even though my dream is, to one day when I grow up to find an antique Louis Vuitton purse, this trunk is nice!

I could tell you anything to look for with purses as I do have a few and I’m quite obsessed with Louis Vuitton,
but with the trunk I would definitely need clearer pictures.
The closest match I was able to find after a short search was this one.
The lining isn’t the same though.
I would maybe be able to tell you more if you could provide clearer pictures of the label and the sides. Daylight is probably the best Time https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/20896/lot/1824/

The label should have a serial number then. Does yours?

Even in that sorry state, $20 was a steal.
