I bought 3 finger lamps Saturday and had no trouble id'ing 2 of them. I think I must have looked at several thousand listings and google images looking for the third but had no luck. So, I listed all 3 last night with no id on the third.

That lamp has had more attention than the other 2 combined. So, I thought I better ask if anyone can help me id it.

It has quilted panels that alternate with plain panels. I found similar lamps but nothing with the plain panels.

    Anyone recognize it? Thanks! 1.jpg

Don't know the pattern but looks like the usual pressed collar finger oil lamp circa 1890. Usually brass collar has age patina but people just seem to love polishing them for some reason.

I'm pretty sure it's old. But the difficulty finding a similar lamp and the interest in it makes me wonder if it's a rare one.

This hand lamp is in the "Prince Edward" pattern. It would date from around 1880 to 1900. I can't tell what kind of collar it has. It may be double ribbed or double fine lines. The fine line collar tend to be older

I have a hand lamp in this pattern also. Mine is a flat hand lamp. The flat hand lamp is pictured in Oil Lamps, I, by Thuro, p. 279 in the 1880-1900 section. Thuro says it is similar in design to the "Princess Feather" saying both have a "squart form in opaque white and both come with clear bases and cased fonts. The price guide in the back of the book values it at $110.00+. THat price certainly isn't relative to today's market. At the moment don't know the manufacturer. I do know the "Princess Feather" pattern lamps were made by Consolidated Glass & Lamp Co. I suspect several companies made this pattern lamp???

By the way, the correct name for your style of lamp is footed hand lamp, mine is a flat hand lamp. Most call them finger lamps. If you are planning on selling it, include footed hand and finger in its title to be sure of attracting as much attention as possible.

Princess Feather was all I could find. Thanks so much! I'll add that info to the listing.
