Is that normal Davey, sounds like here in the States most Scrappers are low-ballers. Any tips or tricks in getting top dollar like you do ?
PS-Just wondered if your Chaps deal by mail ?

Its in person only and cash, a few times last season he ran out of money and had to do bank transfers.
I went to see him at 11am one Saturday after selling my wares and packing everything away and I was the last cash customer, he'd gone through £36k in 5 hours.
He attends the carboot sale in a van and puts a big flag up, "We buy Gold"
If he was lowballing , word would soon get round.
He knows I know the gold closing prices and pays me £1 per gram less than the going rate.
Last time I went 18k gold was £60 per gram and I got £59.

We're a bit remote so there are only a couple folks I regularly deal with as reputable, knowledgable an' fair. Neither are taking anything but .999 silver; no coin, no sterling. Both lay it at the feet of the refiners (Seattle) who are piping the tune. I can't speak to gold as I don't trade in it, but I'll assume the story is similar.
Most of my stash is US coin...an' I'm content to wait for the discounts an' restrictions to fade. When this market recovers a semblance of stability, much will be very different from an historical viewpoint...an' I candidly expect our Federal government to have had a major hand in those changes. Confiscation, proscription against an'/or limitation on ownership are among the actions I fear.
What we are seeing is so unprecedented that predictions are simply wishful thinking, IMO.

Indeed...Generating much consternation, gnashing of teeth, economic hardship an' etc. Not to mention monumental criminal activity of every stripe including by the citizenry, Local, State, an' Federal government, an' all law enforcement...all to no eventual benefit, then tardy but complete repeal.
We Americans have a knack for forgetting lessons learned the hard way.
Ain't ignorance blissful? What?! We Worry?
