My bloke has always rated this vase and, delirious after all this new year dieting, I have hauled it off a high shelf. It's very light and much taller than a Penguin book (35.5cm). I assume it's Japanese, but have no idea as to its age or the maker (JA? JH?). Is it modern kak or is he right? Thanks, and belated wishes for 2019. I agree, it doesn't look very old. The people are supposed to be Japanese, and that specific gorgeous shade of blue is generally Japanese, as is that blueish white. But you never know.
    Have you checked Gotheborg?

A quick look at Gotheborg shows nowt. We have had it probably 20+ years but I suppose that might make it all of 80s? 90s? The shape looks pretty modern, too. I will banish it ...

That's a photo of the mark on the bottom, thanks Ipan9. But it's agreed the bloke is wrong and I am right, again. Har har har! Stupid vase can go to the charity shop.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I like the measurement "much taller than a Penguin book." Funny! :)
