Any way to tell how old a very old looking foo dog(?) is?

    I found this about a week ago at a local thrift store. To me it appears very old but I know I'm no expert & there are excellent knock offs out there - is there any way to tell how old it is? (notice bottom of statue shows someone thought enough to put pads on it - and they appear worn/old)
    PS - Also look at last 2 photos - they show it looks like there's a shell(?) on outside & some type of stone inside (last toe that tip is chipped off)?

    Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

    I've never seen an all brown one before! I don't think that "tape-type" padding bodes well for age.....but that's just MHO!!!!:)
