Anybody Recognize Shield Mark on Porcelain Frog

    Can't figure out this mark, looks like a shield. Any help would be greatly appreciated frog1.jpg

    I used to have a pitcher that was trying to pass itself off as majolica (poorly, I might add), and it had that same mark.

    That shape was used as a registration mark in Britain at one time (though their marks had numbers as well), so I'm thinking this mark is a bogus one meant to fool folks by resembling the British mark.

    It looks like the Carstens pottery mark. It usually has two but maybe on smaller pieces they use as a single.

    I don't think it's Carstens. Probably Chinese and not very old. I agree that the marks looks imitative of a registry mark.
