Are you sure it’s not a VERY early MICKEY??? At least I see that as a mouse........

I checked. Mickey's ears always looked roundish. I looked at Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, too. No dice.

It almost looks like an early Goofy, but I Googled Goofy images, and none looked like that. I tried doing some research and couldn't find any. I'm wondering if it was just a generic child's pin, and not an actual licensed cartoon character?

It sure looks like a licensed cartoon character though. I wish I knew! It's really cute.

Goofy had a son named Max. Not sure that's him though. It does look familiar but it's been ages since I watched cartoons of that vintage.

Is it a pinback? Does it have any maker etc, maybe along the edge?

That's a good guess, and what I was thinking to. But I looked up images, and none looked like that. The first appearance of his son Max was 1951, and it didn't look anything like this.

    The back is rather odd. It's 1 1/2" wide. IMG_5601 copy.jpg

I have had fun looking at old time cartoons and comic strip characters, though!

I think it is a button missing the part you thread through.

Goofy as a baby. Notice the eyes are different.

Wonder if Japan made buttons that were a Disney takeoff.

Looks to me like the kind of retro imagery that was around in the 1990s, inspired by Keith Haring (NYC subway cartoons) and Matt Groening (Simpsons, Futurama), abetted by Art Spiegelman. All the hipster cartoonists of that era ADORED the old-school look of the cartoons of the '20s & '30s, and the look was pretty popular. I used to see felt boards covered with pin-backs like this in the record shops 'back then'. The back is the only thing that makes me think it's older, but I'm no expert on buttons & badges.

Looks like part of the back came off.....AND I STILL THINK IT'S A ROUND EAR.....JUST A VERY ODD ANGLE IT'S 'FLOPPED' TO!!! STILL Mickey in my mind!!!!

I have so many boxes full of little trinkets like this that I was always going to 'do something with' that I've reached a point where I have to start tossing because I know there is no project that will fit this particular guy. Hey - maybe I can make up grab bags and offer them on the free site on the front page of this forum! Who'd be willing to take a chance and get some weird stuff for free??
