Anyone have any ideas about this trunk?

I couldn't upload the pictures here for some reason. I hope this works.

As mentioned in my other thread - we purchased a condo that included a few antiques (or at least they appear to be antiques to us), but they aren't our taste or style. Does anyone have any ideas about this trunk as far as origin, value, how can we sell it etc.?

Reason is usually that file is too large. You need to downsize to under 1MB. Better to get them in here; folks may not follow link. The tip for phone users is usually to e-mail pix to yourself, changing file size to medium first.

You might also do a search of the site for 'trunk'. We've had a number over time.

People who know these things are going to want better views of the hardware. More chest than trunk.

Those 2 paper labels on the inside do not bode well for an actual antique. There is also something about the inside surfaces that is also suspicious.

I rather like that.Im wondering if possibly Indonesian or the like. Newish, like from the 90s when import stores were all the rage.

Were you thinking of a store like the Bombay Company? Our local mall had one ages ago.

To answer OP, I'm no expert, but it looks nice irrespective of age. You can easily use it to store linens, towels, etc.

    Agree, or Asian.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Is that some kind of damage on the lid in the next to last picture???

Agree that this is an import. Is it on wheels? Looks like an Asian dowry chest, though without the usual embellishments seen.

Thank you and thanks everyone! It does not have wheels.

Again, this is an item that would find a buyer.

I have no idea. We recently purchased the condo and that's the way we got it. I'm also in a different state than where the trunk/chest/box is, so I can't look at it closer or take additional pictures.

Certainly looks usable! We had a place at a mall here that carried lots of Asian made furniture and was difficult to tell some of it from the real stuff. Stayed open for about 6 years and as best I can remember it was in the early 2000's or right before.
