I have this antique wood carving from Thailand I believe. I heard it’s really old? Can anyone confirm. It’s a very psychedelic piece if you look closely!

Psychedelic, really? I guess your definition is vastly different than mine.

I believe those look like magic mushrooms and a lot of wink eye decorations. Although I may be mistaken!

Are you sure it’s wood? Maybe resin?

It’s 100% wood hand carved and painted.

It is a carved panel from Bali, Indonesia, of ladies bringing their offering to a temple. It seems to be 'antiqued', which would mean it is post-1950. How much 'post', I don't know.
    From mine too.
Do you mean the pink lotus flowers? Those stand for spirituality, not for mind altering substances.

    For those with neck issues:

I don't see any. I don't know what magic mushrooms look like where you are, but ours look like this:

I kinda understand LOL-I remember the days of fixating on an Indian print textile on the wall in my bedroom in college and watching the elephants dance. Today, not so much!

I always thought art was in the eye of the beholder.

Absolutely positively. What isn’t in the eye of the beholder is museum quality and secondary market resale value. Aesthetics are always subjective.

Definetly that is a skill or a gift to be able to determine that unlike most people including myself who are only learning as we go along.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.;) Meaning it is a matter of taste, not a matter of interpretation.

Art is exactly what it says on the label, art.

Those are bushes or grass knolls growing on the turquoisey coloured mountain.
What surprises me is that you never wondered why the mountain was that colour.:playful:
