I’m not sure I’m going to buy this, gotta check with smarter machinist friends on suitability, but seller won’t ship it, so I’d have to get someone else to pick it up, box it, put my labels on it, and give to Fedex. Funny but there’s so much industry in the Chicago area, I’ve found several other “local pickup only” items I could use there in the past, but have never worked out the shipping. I’ll also look into shippers that’ll pick it up and box it, but that’d probably put the total cost out of reach. Other suggestions?

Can it be shipped padded in a tube? "Boxing" may be harder to handle.
Does Greyhound Bus still run a path towards you from Chicago?

Thanks, I remembered I have a friend in Sugar Grove IL who I’m sure would fetch and ship this if it is something I should get. It is technically correct but would be hard to handle in scraping machine tables. I’d have to start by designing and making something to allow easy handling. More research needed.

After asking our machinist’s club members on their listserv, our scraping straightedge expert replied “The problem with that design is that it is not rigid enough and it will bend and twist considerably.”. Plus lots more I barely understand myself so I won’t bother you with that. So I’ll leave the Illinois piece where it is and look for the right kind, a long “camelback” straightedge that I’ll get around to using in about two years-not important now.

Yeah Spring, I saw a "camelback" listed on eBay when I looked at your link.
