    Yes on missing lid. Italian, probably Empoli, but it could be from another area.

    I'm surprised that it is considered to be missing a lid. Although the proportions look off without a lid. the top edge would make me think it didn't have a lid. I guess the lid would go over the top and sit on the flared out portion of the neck. You learn something new everyday!

    Looking at the top again, I might be wrong about it missing lid, but for some reason the shape says it needs a lid

    It had a lid. Said lid was a tall conical sort of thing with a ball on top - the ball may have been clear. And yes, it went over the top.

    Hmmnn . . . I might have a lid for this. But it would take a deep dive in my basement stuff to find it. Let you know.
