Are there POLAR BEARS in the SOVIET UNION?

    Nifty looking "SOVIET UNION HAND CARVED" Polar Bear Ashtray. Appears to be made of marble. Can't find any relevant information on Google. Just a tourist piece? When do you think this was made? TIA!!

    I see your piece is marked "Soviet Union". The Soviet's and Russia have both used an image of a bear as their symbol. While the bear used is a brown bear, I still believe that is what your piece is representing. The face is more like the bear they used as their symbol versus a polar bear which has a narrower nose. The material is simply dictating the color vs representing the color of the bear.

    It would have been made sometime before the Soviet Union dissolved in 1991.
