A few of those look like they came off uniforms, but which uniforms I haven't a clue. Most are off old clothing, or they're the spare buttons they used to sell with clothing. The one with the Maltese cross makes me wonder, and the coppery one with the lion on it.

Group 4 - the button with the union and lion (bottom left side) is a British General Service button

In group 4 the dark one with unicorn and standing lion seem to have writing, but I can't make it out. Can you see?

Thanks Huntingtreasure:) I didn't notice the letters, they read 'Dieu et mon droit'. It is a British General Service button

Except for that one button, nothing military among them, to my knowledge.

The one with the shield and banner below with writing that has line across - I have a whole set of those that came off an old sweater. My mother always cut the buttons off clothes before giving them to the rag man. I remember them. The big ones came off the front and then there were two small ones sewn on the ends of the sleeves as decoration.
