Still sorting thru large estate collection of first-day covers, stamps, etc. There are thousands collected mostly in 1920’s and 30’s. But there are also duplicates of all the unused picture envelopes shown. Worth anything or not?

Cachets. A few worth $5-$10 in there. I'd probably group them by subject matter and sell in lots if they were mine.

I'd group the WWI generals together and those Patriotic airmail envies. Selling in lots may be the best way to go.

Ok thx. I’m guessing one lot would be one copy of each general, another would be American patriots (George, Thomas, Ben, etc), another would be famous women, …?? Anyway, just one example of each different cachet in a category.

A dealer would want multiples; a collector wouldn't need them.

More pix, I thought the 1949 Nevada FDC cachet was neat. I don’t know what pre-cancels are except that’s what are supposed to be in the little envelope. The envelopes with colorful “stamps” printed on them, worth more than face? Have lots, many denominations, especially brown Mt. Vernon 1 1/2 cents. https://www.flickr.com/photos/189102681@N07/shares/A42dvC

Have many “first flight” FDC too, mostly 1930’s. Incl Various German and US airships.

some other ‘30’s FDC: USS ARIZONA, and other USN ships.

They used to be worth something, dunno about now. They were sold so you didn't have to have an envelope. Some folks didn't. I think the extra half penny was for the envelope.

I found a local gent who is as “into” stamps and covers, has been collecting whole life. Volunteered to come look. Said there wasn’t much value in it, but certain things were worth a few bucks. To sell, he suggested inviting one of a couple local collector/dealers in to look it all over. They’d probably buy it all to get the few items to sell for decent money then peddle the ordinary items over time. I could tell he was being honest.

Sounds like a good idea. You're shed of them and they get stuffed into someone else's shed.

He told me one group of items might be of interest to certain collectors with printed paper band around them “Harry Ioor” advertising, with some of his thin catalogs. Ioor was a “big” dealer in cachet/cover supplies for collectors.
