Greetings. I picked up these panels at the Bouckville NY Antiques show thinking they were hand carved walnut and chestnut. But a friend thought they may have been machine carved then 'finished' by hand. Not having a good idea of their age I'd like to hear what the board thinks. Thanks! f1Cropped.jpg f1Close.jpg F2Close.jpg F2Close2.jpg three.jpg

If that's wood and not a plastic or resin, I'd say it's hand carved. :cyclops:

They look hand carved to me also.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

They're pretty close, but look to have enough differences so as to be hand carved, I think.....at least to me!!

If the friend means stenciled, then chiseled, let him have it, but they are hand carved all right. Not top work, but very pleasant. Accent part of some built-in I take it, fire place, library, etc. Good find!

It looks to me like power hand tools were used.
