Are these the same manufacturer or style?

Posting another learning question. Because the bottoms are similar in appearance are they somehow "related" by company, style or whatever? Pheasant vase is 9" high, green vase is 8". Thanks in advance - this science geek is so out of her lane, I think I'm driving on the curb.

The quail was produced by American Art Potteries (one of the Morton, Illinois potteries). The pottery companies in Morton have a rather tangled history but I'd date to circa 1960. American Art Potteries also did a similar pheasant planter. Unfortunately, you can't use the similarities of the bottoms to make any kind of a connection. A number of pottery companies used "wedge" bottoms. Making pottery IDs based solely on the bases will eventually result in tears.

Thanks, Don. Sorting through boxes of family stuff has been both fun, interesting and overwhelming. I've learned so much and realize it's only the tip of the iceberg. Hats off to those on this board that are true experts and willing to help others. Now, this one brought a smile to my face today, not tears....Looks like my husband and I checking out what the other one is up to.
