I see no reason to doubt they are Italian, but wait for the joolies to confirm. They are very pretty.

I'd think Italian. Nice aventurine glass.

They've been restrung at least once; the spacers are Czech, so someone's original string probably broke and they redid them.

Not the bead expert, but wouldn't Italian beads have the color go all the way through and not be applied to the top of the bead?

I can't pretend to know much, as ever I am clueless but wedding cake beads and a lot of Italian the beads I have seen have stuff applied? I am interested though to know if that is the case? x x
Thanks everyone for commenting x x

Just general thoughts. When I first saw them I wasn't thinking Venetian. They are unusual. I even wondered at first glance they were recent beads, but the clear cut spacers definitely look older. Cluttered makes a good point, usually things like aventurine (the gold sparkly part) is embedded in the glass, not painted on. And yes wedding cake beads do have applied things to the exterior, but the colors, aventurine, etc should be inside the glass.

Almost wondering if these might be Czech or Japanese, from the 40's or 50's plus or minus. Maybe to mimic Venetian? If I am correct, you really can't go wrong. Beautiful beads came out of both Czechoslovakia and Japan in those decades.

That's excellent info...(I mentioned Venetian because I think the other board mentioned it when I posted them there, though I could be remembering incorrectly)

I love them and they only cost 50p so don't have much invested in them so it's a win either way x x
They came in a lot with loads of other ole kerap but I know that's no indicator!
Thanks everyone for their responses x x xx

I vote Venetian, more specifically, Murano.
