Featured ARKO ceramic bust of woman - help please.

    I found this ceramic bust last week. I have found that ARKO was a school of ceramics started by famous sculptor Alexander Archipenko in 1929 in New York City.
    I have found other ceramics that students of the school made - marked ARKO like this one, usually signed with the student's name. It seems that the student ceramics are usually copies of Archipenko's work - but I could be wrong. This piece is definitely a copy of his work, "Head"

    Is anyone familiar with this artist, his work, and this school? What do I have here?

    But it is signed Archipenko. I guess I just don't understand.

    Neither do I - I guess it could be his - maybe an example for his students?

    Its fabulous . Is it me,or does that signature look like it might be one of those paint pens ?

    It does look like paint pen but still looks like his signature. Maybe someone with more experience can tell. archipenko.jpg

    I think the sculpture on the link has slightly different proportions, also it's less glossy. For me, it's strange that a sculptor like Archipenko would sign his work with white paint rather than inscribing his signature directly into the base. My guess would be that it's a multiple copy produced by the Archipenko studio based on one of his works, and then someone decided to add it value by signing it
