My mum purchased this armchair for $18 50 years ago at an auction, and we're curious whether it is worth restoring. I haven't been able to find anything online that looks similar (from early 1900s to late 1800s). It was re-upholstered 35 years ago.

Any information about it will be very well received. :) 20250120_113011.jpg 20250120_113023.jpg 20250120_113041.jpg 20250120_113052.jpg

Why are you giving it a date range of "early 1900s to late 1800s"?

No reason at all, I was just guessing. Complete novice here.

As far as reupholstering/restoring this would be a great piece to practice on.There's tons of good YouTube vids.
First though,so as not to possibly harm a piece worth hundreds/thousands-lets ask our furniture experts @verybrad and @Ghopper1924 what they think it might be worth totally restored.

Hmmmm…..Looks to be mid-20th Century, perhaps loosely based on historical precedents. I would only reupholster if the sentimental value is high. Value is minimal.

    And it's been treated roughly.

Agree completely with Ghopper. Can't see that this is worth investing any effort into it.
