    Hey All,
I picked up a br set from an estate sale. I'm guessing it's from 1920 to 1940 but I have no way of knowing. It's in amazing shape for it's age. The handles seem to be Bakelite (?) Any info anyone can give me would be appreciated.

I love these. What style. I'd say you're in the right neighborhood for date. For more info you should look to see if there are any marks on the backs or in the drawers.

Statement pieces, any way you look at them...very nice score, Pete.

Those are what's called "waterfall" design, and dead bang Art Deco. The age looks right, although I'd think more 1929-1935. Deco was tamed down a bit later on.

Gorgeous. I have a Belgian Art Deco vanity myself.
As mentioned above, your set is Waterfall style, which is late Art Deco, 1930s-40s.

Just want to say that this set is fabulous! Were the photos taken in your home? If so, the curtains are perfect with the furniture. What I like about older furniture is that the drawers are so deep. You can get many pairs of jeans in them or stacks of t-shirts. The top drawer was for socks, at least for my father it was. The drawers on today's furniture are very shallow, not real useful.

30s or so is spot-on. Handles do appear to be bakelite. Condition is wonderful. Sometimes, the more streamlined furniture such as this is called art moderne. Would say this set is borderline.

As an aside, I have seen waterfall bedroom furniture made well into the late 40s. Had a mirror off one dated 1948, which was a surprise to me at the time. The later examples tend to be more gaudy, use faux veneers, and celluloid in the handles rather than bakelite.

That looks nearly identical to my grandparents’ waterfall bedroom set. Their set was purchased in the early 1940s. I’ve always loved that look!
