Has anyone come across one of these?

This one is currently on ebay and I have a smaller version. I've so tried to track down so info on it and I was so surprised to see it pop up on ebay, which suggest it might not be that rare although quite expensive. Local antique shops have nothing to offer. There are no distinctive marks that I can see, I'm guessing its 1920's art deco, other than that cant find a thing.

    Welcome!
Looks familiar and I think we saw similar here recently as an example in regard to another.
Stand by for whoever knows more and/or can show that example again.

    Hi,
Nice lamp. I had one years ago but it had a round globe.
    I miss that lamp.

I don't see anything that suggests that this lamp is truly old. In particular, the finish, shade, and cord are wrong for an old lamp. I also would not expect there to be that little drop finial under the fixture. I realize that this probably holds the light in but it was usually done differently on old lamps. I suppose that this could be refinished, the shade replaced, and rewired but I would need convincing. I could not find the ebay listing (didn't look too hard) and would also really like to see your version for more details. Otherwise, I did find this truly old lamp that the figure on this one appears to be copied from.

I think its what i call " 80's deco " . During the late 70's and well into the 80s art deco was very popular again and they made a lot of stuff to meet the demand . Its a great lamp just on looks alone , but I dont think it original 30's .

I agree with both brad and johhny that this is a more current lamp made to look like the old one.

If the price were right and you wanted it for yourself I would buy it. If you are thinking of reselling it, it would have to be really inexpensive.

There are enough differences between yours and theirs to give me a bit of pause. I like the finish on yours better but still think it is probably a reproduction. That shade, while different than the one on ebay is still wrong for an old lamp. The fitter ring is awkward with that raised collar. Does it have a drop finial/knob underneath like the one on ebay? It also has a new screw in it but, of course, the screw could be a replacement. Does it have an in-line switch? Old ones most likely have an integrated switch in the base. A look at the socket might solve this once and for all.

It has no drop finial. It also has a in inline switch but then it was likely rewired before I bought it. It may have had a swich at the base, as the cable connection is unusual as in the pic below. I expect the screws are not origonal, the shade is a really good fit though and rests comfortably in the holder but could easily be a replacement.

There is a metal ring at the top to hold the shade. I have attched a couple of other pics with the shade off. It feels and looks like bakerlite and it is quite heavy.

I love it enough that it wouldn't matter if it was an 80s piece, but I would like to know a bit more about it.

I tried to copy and paste the first lamp which is most likely a new copy of the lamp brad posted(which I also wanted to copy and paste), as well as copy and paste lotuschap's lamp with red shade,; for comparison, but the pictures were too big.

The picture brad posted appears to be the original of the lamp first asked about.
The last lamp has noticiable differences in the hair, and way the hands are done.
The last lamp appears to be rewired.

So, would you think mine is an 80s reproduction - a rewired one, and the ebay one is a 80s reproduction also?

Does anyone have any idea who may have made them, what they are named other than naked lady :) ?

The one on ebay is most like a repro.

As for yours I can't tell. I'm old, my neck no longer makes a 90 degree angle to view the pictures well.

Well, I think mine is original - it just feels authentic when you handle it, but even if it isn't I love it regardless and wouldn't part with it. These lamps appear to have some kind of amazing chic to them, and I'm a sucker for them. I do though doubt the ebay one and think its over priced.

I appreciate very much everyone taking the time to help me out. I must keep trawling the antiques fairs...lol!!! I also have a pair of amazing gilt plaster mirrors...equally lovely that I know nothing about - and lots of harlequin cups that are remarkably entertaining when people see them. Old stuff is so cool :).

One on ebay is definitely a reproduction. I think yours is as well but may be older than the one on ebay. I assume that socket is a European version. I don't have enough knowledge about them to tell anything about the lamp from it. The cord grommet is modern and, as I said, an old lamp should have a separate switch on the base.
