    1B771285-FCC0-41A1-82D0-DBF2E2ABFC1E.jpeg Hi there,

Bought this twisted candelabra (sorry for outdoor pic). Just a question as it appears to be silver plated. As i tried cleaning and polishing looks like silverplate was rubbing off? Now some parts look like the color of copper or nickel. What did I do? I don't have an idea of how old or who made it. It had a "K" initial. Any thoughts?

It may already have been worn off and it only showed up when you polished it.
If copper is showing that is the base metal the silver was plated to.

Yikes. Afraid it does not have a lot of resale value. Any idea on the period? I think I will use it for a future haunted house :D

    Thanks

Chiquita: Trust me on this! It will look terrific at night. Not with direct electric light shining on it, but on a side table, or bookcase, or mantel.

I don't really think that it is an Art Deco style.

Sorry, a lot of these patterns were made for years.
If there is a mark on the bottom someone might be able to figure it out.

In the condition it is in, I would use it for yard art. Halloween sounds good too.

You could just paint it some fun color and use it. Rustoleum has some pretty colors.

    Hi,
It should come apart easily. To make different sized pieces. Could we seen the bottom to see what is written there?

Odds are the top screws off, or did. If it's plated it would indeed make a great art project. A decent craft store will have decorative metal paints or metal primer to use under other paints.

Top screws off. Nothing on bottom but green velvet.

Hollow under the velvet. or did someone glue the velvet to the base?

The base is solid. The entire piece is pretty heavy and i am not sure if the velvet was glued.

It might be a weighted piece; there might be markings under the velvet. Might not too.

Dear Fid: See my note above. And polish down to the warm gleam. In spots. Honest it works!
