I don't know but I like the "open heart" concept.

Kardinalismo, what are the "figures?" on the black bottom (stand) portion of the vase? They look almost like mice because of the long tails.

Or am I seeing down into the glass case to see those "mice with long tails"?

Looks Italian to me. Very pretty.

It looks like Venetian aventurine glass (called "aventurina" in Italy), which has tiny flecks of copper embedded in glass.

The mice are down the case. It does have flecks inside. "Open heart" sounds good but a better description of the shape may help to find similar vase.

To me it looks like an unfurling leaf or plant. And the more Ive looked at it the more Ive liked it.

I tried pulled curled art glass vase on Google and got mostly Chalet art glass come up in the results. There are a few Murano with aventurine that turned up, too.

It looks like that vase has three layers. White on the inside, the layer with the aventurine and the outside layer is crystal clear, which is called Somerso I think. Going on memory from an old research project and I might have spelled it wrong.

It may not have a separate clear glass layer... the copper flakes in aventurina are embedded within clear glass. It is possible, thought, that there's a clear glass outer layer.

Sommerso is the term for bits of colored glass embedded within transparent glass. The embedded glass usually isn't evenly distributed. Here's a photo of a Venetian glass sommerso bead that has both white glass and aventurine embedded in clear glass.

Ah, gotcha, Bear. I should have mentioned that my experience with Venetian sommerso glass is with beads. I used to use them in jewelry and had a very large collection, but have sold most of it off at this point.

Although there are some variations, most often the submerged opaque glass in beads isn't a solid layer. From your links, I can see that glassware is different.

Oh, I totally agree with it as a bead term. I love them: far too many infest this house. ;)

I think I'd call that vase cased clear over aventurine over white or milk. Sumping like that, anyhow.
