    What is that finish made of? Seems like if I rub it, it will come off.

    Hi Kard - My guess is that it's a modern Chinese piece meant to represent a buried amphora.

    It's called scavo, and yes, it's a copy of Roman glass. Some is still made in Italy.

    Thanks, Scavo is the word.
    I see Italians made quite of few but I guess so did Chinese.
    Generally, the Murano pieces have ground and polished bases but I see some has rougher bottoms I guess to look more like the Roman ones.
