    IMG_9682.JPG IMG_9683.JPG IMG_9684.JPG Chinese or Japanese. Appears to have some age. The hard part as usuall to figure out the artist.

    Yes, I think he is a shogun. Shoguns usually have those thin strips at the back of their hats and are depicted with a sword and a closed fan, possibly a metal fighting fan.
    The Japanese didn't have a scholar culture like the Chinese.

    Your scroll is very nicely painted, especially the shogun. I love that style, but it has had a life.
