Asian Cast-From-Life Bronze Crab, Needful of (Kintsugi?) Repair

I bought this in Seattle, 1973...it was apparently intact. About 3 years later, while moving it, the leg was broken at the solder joint; it was then discovered to have been previously separated and carefully glued back in place.

Each leg is one-piece cast; the belly and claws are cast as one; the back is another piece. The glass eyes appear to have been formed in place at the ends of their center-pins; they aren't uniform in size or shape, nor are the pin-heads. Across the 2nd leg end-knuckle it's ~9" wide; it weighs 988 grams.

I would very much like to have it professionally repaired, 'tho I'm aware that might be costly; Kintsugi is an option, but I've not done any research on potential studios. I've been told there is one in or near Seattle.

Any heat repair (soldering/brazing) will ruin the patina in the area. Best near invisible repair would to be have it pinned and epoxied using a metal fill epoxy, then painted over the join to blend any colour mismatch.

 

Just another thought, are you sure it is bronze as the pics of the break look a lot like how spelter breaks.

 

Agreed, ideally...I think Kintsugi is a cold process, using lacquer & powdered gold.
I'll bend some effort to locating a studio that will agree to look at it and advise...

If you'll look closely at pics 4, 6 & 7; at the body end of the legs are areas where the solder joint is plainly visible, which is where the broken leg failed. I am quite sure there's no spelter in this crab.
